어제 맨유 vs 첼시전, 그러니까 이번 시즌 마지막 첼시전, 프리미어 빅매치가 벌어졌다. 거기 박지성이 당당히 풀타임으로 출전했다. 처음엔 한국 선수라 챙겨봤는데 이제는 그의 플레이가 감동적이라는 느낌이 든다. 뛴다. 또 뛴다 또 뛴다. 골 욕심 부려서 골도 좀 넣었으면 하는 바램이지만, 세계적으로 ( 해설자 말마따나 경기 2번 이면 패라리를 구입할 수 있는 선수들 ) 최고로 꼽히는 선수들과 전혀 뒤쳐짐 없이.. 그리고 카메라가 돌지 않는 곳에서 수비들 휘젓고 다니는 모습이 인상적이다. 설기현, 이동국, 이영표.. 다른 한국 선수들은 챙겨 보지 않는데 유독 박지성 게임은 새벽이 되어도 챙겨 보는건 역시 그의 플레이가 감동적이어서이다.
게임을 열심히 보는 다음날 네이버 기사가 뜨는데, 솔직히 이 기사들은 믿지 못하는 편이다. 퍼거슨 경이 박지성을 '콕' 찝어 '최고' 라고 말했다거나 하는 건 실제 거짓이 대부분이기 때문이다. ( 보통 박지성이 나온 기사를 보고 대충 해석해서 그것만 끄집어 내는 것 같다. ) 그리고 기사 아래에는 누가 어떠니 뭐가 어떠니 하는 각종 평가가 올라오는데 사실 TV로 봐서 뭘 알겠나 싶기도 하고..
나의 경우는 박지성이 선발로 나온 날이면 그 다음날 redcafe.net에 들어가본다. redcafe는 공식 스폰서 사이트로, 일종의 팬클럽 사이트라 보면 된다. 그리고 현지인들의 평가도 올라오는데 최근의 평가는 그야말로 박지성이 '맨유의 주전이 될 자격이 충분하다'에서 'MotM (man of the match)'에 까지 꼽는다. 특히나 동양인들에게는 박한 평가가 박지성에게는 후하다. 그만큼 열심히, 잘 뛴다는 증거가 아닐까?
참고로 어제는 맨유의 레전드 Giggs가 75분 이상 뛰어 주었고 매우 인상적이었다. Vidic는 수비수이면서 맨유의 결승골을 넣었고, 베르바토프와 호나우도가 1골씩 넣어 3:0으로 맨유의 압승이었다. 현지 언론과 해설자는 첼시의 다듬어지지 않은 조직력에 낮은 평가를 하였다.
